A Marathi wedding invitation (लग्न पत्रिका) follows a structure families recognise on sight, and departing from it gets noticed. That is actually helpful: a good card is mostly a matter of getting the details right, not of inventing a layout.

The card opens with an invocation — usually श्री गणेशाय नमः or the family's कुलदैवत — then the invitation line, then the bride and groom with their parents' names. Parents' names are not decoration here; they establish which families are involved, which is the point of the card. The muhurt details follow: date, day, auspicious time and venue, with associated functions below. The inviting family's names and contact details close it.

Step 1: Choose a template

Use a calligraphy face for names and headings and a plain readable face for addresses, times and phone numbers. Setting everything in the decorative font looks impressive on screen and becomes unreadable in print.

Step 5: Adjust the layout
Move, resize and recolour individual fields until the balance is right. Check the preview at a small size too — that is roughly how it will look on a phone.

Step 6: Proofread with someone from the other family
They will catch a name error you have looked at so many times you no longer see it.

Step 7: Download
Your project is saved, so you can re-download it during the validity window without paying again — useful when a detail changes late.

Proofread before printing, not after. Cards are printed in bulk, so an error is expensive and public. Check names letter by letter, check the date against a calendar rather than from memory, and dial every phone number on the card.

Keep decorative fonts for names and headings only. Addresses, times and phone numbers must stay legible at print size, and calligraphy faces are the first thing to become unreadable.

Add a landmark to the venue line. Guests navigate by landmark far more than by address.

Check the card at phone size. Most families send it on WhatsApp too, and if the smallest text is illegible when scaled down, reduce the amount of text rather than enlarging the font.

Ask for a single proof copy from your printer before the full run. One proof costs almost nothing against reprinting hundreds of cards.
